This is a hybrid course, combining online and in-person components. Learners must have an instructor or authorize provider sign off their skills portfolio.

This ETT-1 Refresher course meets the recertification requirements for the State of Alaska. The course combines self-paced online modules with live, instructor-led skills verification sessions. These live sessions allow for real-time observation, verification, and assessment of each student’s skills, culminating in a comprehensive skills check-off required for recertification.
Prerequisites:
• Certification: Current or recently expired ETT certification through the Alaska Department of Health.
• Physical Capabilities: Sufficient physical and sensory abilities to conduct patient assessments and participate in live skills verification.

These resources ensure that all information is accurate and aligns with the official guidelines for emergency medical training. This approach ensures everything we share is transparent, accurate, and fully in line with established best practices.
Course Requirements
• Assignments: All assignments must be completed and submitted on time.
• Attendance: Active participation in all live, instructor-led sessions is mandatory for skills verification. Missed sessions must be made up as directed by the instructor.
Grading and Certification
• This course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis. To receive a certificate of completion, students must complete all online assignments, reading materials, quizzes, and attend all scheduled live verification sessions.

This course uses a blended format with self-directed online modules (F3 distributive education) and live instructor-led sessions.

All skills verification sessions are conducted live via Zoom, ensuring real-time feedback and compliance with State of Alaska EMS recertification standards. Students must have necessary equipment for skills verification. For students unable to attend live sessions, a completed Skills Verification Portfolio must be submitted along with a signed letter from a State-approved ETT instructor. The letter must include the instructor's name, certification number, location, and the dates of skills reviewed. This documentation will be reviewed by the State EMS office for eligibility verification. The complete Skills Verification Form in PDF format must be emailed to kenya@gemstraining.net by the final day of class. No exception will be made.
